Genevieve Sweeney is a brand with a soul, a story to tell, and a passion that far exceeds simply devising beautiful garments of exceptional quality. Having learnt to knit aged 5 as a way to keep entertained during long car journeys, Sweeney’s route to launching her own brand was made through a series of serendipitous encounters.
Having just graduated, she quickly made her mark in the knitwear industry, working for global brands rag & bone, Hugo Boss, Burberry and Lyle & Scott. It was following a chance encounter with a hand-intarsia knitter than her dedication and passion to make heritage techniques relevant once more was born.
In 2015, Genevieve Sweeney started her own label as a way to save the dying skill of hand-knitting. Her name has since become synonymous for blending textile heritage with contemporary designs. She works with British micro-mills and knitters only, looking to revive an industry that was once the backbone of the country.
Her dedication goes further than simply setting up her own label: Genevieve Sweeney wants to revive the UK textile industry, re-employ skilled linkers and knitters, and train a new generation to take over too. We can only be in awe.
