The leather will develop a patina over time and the buckle with become polished to a high shine with regular use.
For the leather, use a natural, non-coloured leather product. Use the treatment very sparingly, particularly if using for the first time. Using a soft cloth over index and middle finger add treatment to finger-ends and use a light, quick motion to distribute along the strap.
For the buckle, simply rub it with a soft cloth, adding a spot of lemon juice if a higher shine is required. Avoid metal polishes as they contain harsh chemicals and can remove the natural character of the metal.
If unworn for a long time, the buckle may tarnish and the strap may become dull. Simply rub with a soft cloth.
Store your belts by hanging them; do not roll them.
Awling’s Founder Chris applies principles found in architecture such as functionality, proportion and above all purpose and context to the often-neglected accessory that are belts.
Just like any piece of clothing we wear or indeed any item we surround ourselves with, Awling’s belts reflect upon us as individuals and tell of our journey so far and of our future aspirations.
When striped back to its very essence where every detail is considered, simple-looking design is often the most complex to devise. Such is the primary rule of good design, and of Awling.
